Drax Energy Solutions, formerly Haven Power, is the business electricity supplier owned by Drax Group plc and based in Ipswich. It supplies renewable source electricity to larger businesses and other organisations, and says it has over 7,000 of them as customers. It does not supply gas.

Worth knowing: Drax has left the small business market. It sold its Opus Energy small business customers to EDF and Pozitive Energy, completing the final sale in May 2025, and Drax Energy Solutions continues to supply electricity to industrial and commercial customers.

Drax deemed and out-of-contract rates

If your fixed contract ends without a new one in place, or you move into premises supplied by Drax without agreeing a contract, you'll pay its deemed or out-of-contract rates. These are typically well above fixed contract prices.

Drax shows its current deemed and out-of-contract electricity rates in tables on its website and updates them monthly; when we checked in September 2026 the rates shown applied from 1 September 2026. Older rates are available as PDFs.

See Drax's current published rates

For context: in Q2 2026, UK businesses using up to 20,000 kWh of electricity a year paid an average of 38.36p per kWh all-in, which spreads the standing charge across every unit and includes the Climate Change Levy. A bill shows a unit rate plus a daily standing charge, so use our cost calculator to turn your rates into an all-in figure before comparing. Prices for every business size.

Switching from Drax

You can usually switch away from Drax when your fixed contract ends, and at any time if you're on deemed or out-of-contract rates. Check your contract for any notice you need to give so you don't roll onto renewal prices.

  1. Find your contract end date on a recent Drax bill or in your online account.
  2. Check whether you need to give written notice, and by when.
  3. Compare electricity prices for your premises.
  4. Agree a new contract. Your new supplier handles the switch, and your supply isn't interrupted.
