ENGIE supplies electricity and gas to UK businesses through ENGIE Power Limited and ENGIE Gas Limited, part of ENGIE SA, and is based in Leeds. It says it supplies 17,000 business customers of all sizes and specialises in industrial and commercial contracts. Its supply companies were called GDF SUEZ Marketing Ltd and GDF SUEZ Sales Ltd until 2016.

Worth knowing: ENGIE left UK household energy supply in January 2020, when it sold about 70,000 home customers to Octopus Energy. Its business energy supply was not affected and continues.

ENGIE deemed and out-of-contract rates

If your fixed contract ends without a new one in place, or you move into premises supplied by ENGIE without agreeing a contract, you'll pay its deemed or out-of-contract rates. These are typically well above fixed contract prices.

ENGIE publishes deemed rates and 'Default' (out-of-contract) rates as dated PDFs, with separate files for gas, non-half-hourly electricity and half-hourly electricity. The files available when we checked in September 2026 included rates effective from 1 June 2026.

See ENGIE's current published rates

For context: in Q2 2026, UK businesses using up to 20,000 kWh of electricity a year paid an average of 38.36p per kWh all-in, which spreads the standing charge across every unit and includes the Climate Change Levy. A bill shows a unit rate plus a daily standing charge, so use our cost calculator to turn your rates into an all-in figure before comparing. Prices for every business size.

Switching from ENGIE

You can usually switch away from ENGIE when your fixed contract ends, and at any time if you're on deemed or out-of-contract rates. Check your contract for any notice you need to give so you don't roll onto renewal prices.

  1. Find your contract end date on a recent ENGIE bill or in your online account.
  2. Check whether you need to give written notice, and by when.
  3. Compare electricity and gas prices for your premises.
  4. Agree a new contract. Your new supplier handles the switch, and your supply isn't interrupted.
